History

Evergreen Life Care was conceived by the directors of Gosford RSL Club and due to these ties, was originally called Gosford RSL Leisure Living.

In 1987, after many years of planning and development, Gosford RSL Leisure Living opened purpose built village accommodation at West Gosford on the Central Coast of New South Wales. The site, known as Yallambee Village, offered club members, veterans and community members relaxed independent living within a welcoming and safe village environment. Today, Yallambee Village provides independent living services for 149 Self Care Units.

A new aged care hostel, Yallambee Lodge, was established between 1990 and 1992 adjacent to the Yallambee Village site. This ageing in place accommodation currently provides ongoing care for 106 residents, offering ageing in place and  dementia specific care. Gosford RSL Leisure Living also introduced flexible community care through its community service Coast Home Help. This organisation now services the entire Central Coast region, providing 24 hour, on-call care and assistance for a range of people in a number of areas.

The organisation could not have achieved the standing in the community which it holds without the generous support of Gosford RSL. The registered club magnanimously donated a $9 million parcel of land in 2006. The 7.16 hectare site was previously rented to Gosford RSL Leisure Living - the aged care facility on the land was built by the Club in 1992 to provide a rental return on the land, mindful of the synergies between the Club and its services and the people who would utilise the aged care facility.

August 2011 saw the opening of the first stage of the satellite residential aged care facility on the mid north coast, Tea Gardens Manor. This state of the art facility offers both low care ageing in place and high care to residents.

In May 2012, with the expansion of services to Tea Gardens and with a strategic plan that includes the provision of a variety of services outside of the local Gosford area, it was decided that it was time that Gosford RSL Leisure Living changed its corporate identity.

In April 2014 Evergreen Life Care divested itself of the  residential aged care facility on the mid north coast at Tea Gardens after nearly three years operation. This decision was made to focus on services on the Central Coast and in particular at West Gosford.

Evergreen Life Care is governed by a Board of Directors, which appoints a Chief Executive Officer who leads the  Leadership Team.
